Koss Construction Acquired by Bettis Companies

Koss Construction Company, one of OK/AR Chapter’s founding members, has announced its acquisition by the Bettis Companies. As part of the transition, Tim Gerhardt was elected President of Koss on June 1st, 2020 and will lead the organization in alignment with the growing group of Bettis Companies. Gerhardt succeeds David M. Howard who will continue working with the new ownership group for the foreseeable future. OK/AR Chapter looks forward to our continued relationship with Koss which has produced several award winning projects across both Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Portland Cement Quality Initiative Task Force

The Portland Cement Quality Initiative Task Force (PCQITF) is a group transportation professionals made up of Oklahoma DOT and concrete pavement industry members that meet quarterly to discuss ways to improve the quality of portland cement concrete pavements. Specifications, standard drawings, research and innovative products are some of the things reviewed by this committee. Interstate Relocation Opens Gateway to Oklahoma City

A prominent Oklahoma concrete pavement project was featured in ACPA’s Concrete Progress magazine recently. ODOT Implements New Longitudinal Tining Spec

Effective with the July 2020 letting, Special Provision 414-17(a) 09 for Longitudinal Finish (see attached) will be included in all contracts with Portland Cement Concrete Pavement.

This special provision will make longitudinal tining the preferred method of concrete finishing.
