Central Plains Cement Plant
OK/AR Chapter, ACPA conducted its annual fall Oklahoma Concrete Pavement Review Bus Tour September 27th. After reviewing several concrete pavements along I 35 and the Cimarron Turnpike (many miles of which were 30 -40 years old), participants were treated a tour of the ACPA member Central Plains Cement Company’s manufacturing plant in Tulsa. OK/AR Chapter board member Joe Bush, along with fellow CPCC employees Megan Dangel and Bob Sanders hosted the tour and provided a fantastic BBQ lunch. The group also made a stop at ACPA member Duit Construction’s ongoing project on US 266 and finished up with a review of several concrete pavement sections on US 75 and I 40 before returning to Oklahoma City.
OU Civil Engineering student Jeremy Ng receiving Scholarship check from OK/AR ACPA Executive Director, Brent Burwell
OK/AR Chapter, ACPA handed out scholarships to two local students in August as they prepared to return to fall classes. Students pursuing a degree in civil engineering or construction management and who work as an intern for an OK/AR Chapter member company are eligible for this scholarship.
Jeremey Ng spent his summer as an intern for MacArthur Associated Consultants. He is a senior at the University of Oklahoma and plans to graduate in the Spring with a BS in Civil Engineering. He had a chance to work on site at a concrete paving project at Will Rogers World Airport this summer where he witnessed first hand the importance given to material testing and sampling that he had learned while in school. He also spent time working with a design squad and was introduced to WinPas and PCase pavement design software.
Will Little is a Construction Management student at Oklahoma State University who spent the summer working as an intern for Allen Contracting. Will was able to gain broad concrete paving experience including spending time working on the construction of a concrete pavement on Western Avenue in the City of Stillwater. He will be returning to OSU this Fall as a Junior.
Congratulations to both our 2016 Scholarship winners!
